Stalking

What is Stalking?

Stalking is a serious, often misunderstood crime that can have a lasting emotional and psychological impact. At Haven House, we’re here to help you recognize the warning signs, understand your rights, and find safety and support. You are not alone.

Stalking is a pattern of unwanted behavior that causes someone to feel scared, threatened, or harassed. It can include:

  • Repeated phone calls, texts, DMs, or emails

  • Showing up uninvited to your home, work, or school

  • Tracking your location or using GPS to follow you

  • Sending unwanted gifts or notes

  • Monitoring your social media or using spyware

  • Threatening you or those you care about

  • Damaging your property

Signs You Might Be Experiencing Stalking

  • You change your daily habits to avoid someone

  • You feel constantly watched or followed

  • You’ve received multiple unwanted messages or visits

  • You’ve blocked someone, and they find other ways to reach you

  • You feel unsafe but aren’t sure why

What You Can Do

If you’re experiencing stalking:

Trust your instincts — if you feel unsafe, you probably are.

Document everything — keep a log of incidents, screenshots, photos, and voicemails.

Tell someone — a friend, family member, or advocate.

Don’t engage — responding can escalate behavior.

Reach out for support — Haven House is here to help.
