Personal Safety

  • Trusted people I can call or go to if I feel unsafe:

    • Name / Phone Number / Relationship

  • Safe places I can go in an emergency:

    • Friend or family home, public location, shelter, etc.

  • Code word or phrase to use with trusted people to signal danger:

    • (Example: “Can you check if I left my red jacket at your place?”)

Safety in Relationships

  • Signs I may not be safe in a relationship:

    • Pressure to have sex, jealousy, control, threats, etc.

  • Boundaries I want to set and how I’ll express them

  • Plan for leaving a situation if I feel unsafe:

    • Exit strategies / excuses to leave / transportation options

After an Assault

  • Who I can call for help:

    • 911 (if in immediate danger)

  • Medical care options:

    • SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) locations

    • Emergency room / clinic

  • Preserving evidence (if choosing to report):

    • Advocacy services

    • Police, Title IX officer, HR (depending on situation)

    • Letting someone know where I’m going

    • Carrying a phone charger or safety whistle
